Summary
Provides clerical and medical assisting support for a MedBasics Health Clinic located in a retail setting. Answer phone, register patients, prepare paperwork for clinic visit, notes patient referrals and assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the provider. Responsible for data entry and maintenance of medical records and serves as telephone receptionist. Promote health screens and other personal health management services to customers. This position plays a major marketing role as the first contact with the patient. Greets patient, makes them feel welcome and is sensitive to potential time constraints in how appointments are scheduled. Demonstrates understanding of business drivers and takes every opportunity to encourage retail clients to learn about and participate in our services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet all persons entering the clinic and ensure they fell welcome. Makes eye contact, smiles, and greets each person, even if working with someone else or on the phone.
  • Markets services by ensuring marketing materials are available throughout the store, and makes announcements on the store public address systems.
  • Seeks opportunities to generate interest in clinic services by offering blood pressure screens.
  • Watches for potential store customer interest and promotes clinic services.
  • Understands the positive impact of exceptional customer service on return visits and patient referrals to the clinic.
  • Respects patient's time by ensuring that clinics are open as scheduled.
  • Communicates frequently to patients in waiting areas about estimated time of service and strives to see patients the same day they present for service.
  • Ensures patients are given appropriate paperwork and are signed in on the correct log.
  • Perform all indicated functions of the telephone system and process in-coming calls; checks messages as soon as possible if unable to answer the phone.
  • Prepare patients for appropriate admitting process, to include computer data entry, preparation of medical record and practice management entry.
  • Document Client permission to treat authorizations.
  • Identify patient payment method and enter in POS system.
  • Collect payment.
  • Place records into PM/EMR system for provider to begin care.
  • Maintain medical records, ensure that medical records are scanned into computer system then shred documents.
  • Assist in the scheduling of patients that need referrals to outside physician or emergency room.
  • Perform all patient and client computer data entry and update information in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile daily clinic service data for PM and POS systems.
  • Match super-bills to sign-in log daily to ensure that billing and charge process is complete and accurate.
  • Perform daily cash log and deposit all cash into safe.
  • Assist in the preparation of all reports for completion by the provider.
  • Maintain policy and procedure manual and update as required.
  • Follow facility safety and health practices.
  • Follow current purchasing procedures and inventory control procedures to maintain appropriate supply levels while minimizing expenses.
  • Assist in preparing budgetary guidelines for clinic site and work within the budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare necessary reports.
  • Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Certification as a Medical Assistant. Recent experience in pediatrics with patients 18 months and older. Minimum of two (2) years of family practice clinical and administrative experience.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software. Ability to complete training and utilize to the fullest capacity the MedBasics electronic medical record and practice management and POS. information systems.

Certificates and Licenses
Valid certification as a Medical Assistant
Current CPR basic life support certification.
