MedXpress Announces Partnership
With Minyard Foods Stores to Develop 25 In-Store Clinics

Dallas-based Company is the First to Provide
Inexpensive Retail-based Medical Care in North Texas

DALLAS (June 9, 2006) – MedXpress, a Dallas-based company that is pioneering flat-fee, family medical clinics located in grocery stores and pharmacies, has announced it will open the first such clinic in North Texas under an agreement with Minyard Food Stores, Inc. which operates under the Minyard, Carnival and Sack N Save banners throughout the Metroplex..

MedXpress and Minyard have entered into an agreement for MedXpress to open up to five clinics in Minyard stores throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by the end of 2006, with up to 25 projected over the next three years. The first clinic will open in the new Carnival flagship store in southwest Dallas’ Oak Cliff area, scheduled to open in late summer 2006.

“MedXpress will give our customers a fast, easy way to access basic medical services even when their own doctor’s offices are closed, or a costly trip to a hospital emergency room seems their only option,” said Michael D. Byars, President and CEO of Minyard Food Stores, Inc. “It fits well with our company philosophy of providing customers with the services they need in the communities we serve.”

“We’re excited to have such a strong partner to help launch the first flat-fee family medical clinic in North Texas,” said Brian Jones, MedXpress CEO. “Through this partnership, we’ll be able to bring affordable, basic medical care to consumers throughout North Texas.”

The clinics will be staffed by either a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant and will charge a fixed price—typically in the $45 range—for a variety of routine medical services including physical exams, immunizations, flu shots and treatment of common illnesses such as allergies, bladder infections, bronchitis, ear and sinus infections and strep throat. No appointments are needed and visits normally take only 15 minutes. The clinics will be open during normal pharmacy hours. MedXpress also will provide patients with properly formatted receipts that they can submit for reimbursement to their individual insurance carriers.

The nurse practitioner and physician’s assistant will be guided by strict protocols in the treatment of some 30 basic services under the direction of a physician. They will be able to write prescriptions and will have access to a primary care physician for patients who might have a more serious medical condition.”

Minyard Food Stores Inc. currently operates 67 supermarkets and 15 fuel stations in and around the six surrounding counties of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, including 24 Minyard, 24 Carnival and 19 Sack ’n Save Food Stores. Additionally, the company operates its own 722,000 square-foot distribution center and 43,000 square-foot office on an 81-acre corporate headquarters complex in Coppell. With an employee force of 5,200, Minyard Food Stores Inc. is the 26th largest employer in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
