MedBasics Responds to the American Medical Association
House of Delegates on Convenient Care Clinics

Over the past two years, American consumers have embraced the high-quality, convenient and affordable healthcare services provided by retail-health clinics. Boasting a 98 percent patient satisfaction rate, retail health clinics provide consumers the option and convenience to receive high-quality, basic healthcare services when they need them, where they need them.

Earlier this week at the American Medical Association's annual meeting, delegates discussed ways to limit the growth of retail-based health clinics, preventing patient access to convenient and affordable healthcare. We are extremely surprised by the AMA's decision, as the retail-health concept has been both accepted and praised by healthcare professionals and consumers nationwide.

As one of the leading operators of retail-based clinics, MedBasics works with and has been embraced by physicians, physicians' groups, and hospital systems. Earlier this year MedBasics entered into an affiliation with Baylor Healthcare System, one of the largest non-profit healthcare systems in the country, to maximize the delivery of quality healthcare to its patients.

MedBasics and other retail-based clinics are not meant to replace a doctor-patient relationship, but rather supplement that relationship by providing routine medical care at times and locations that are more convenient for patients. The clinics also help alleviate the overcrowding at hospital emergency rooms by providing low-cost, convenient medical care for people who are uninsured and do not have a regular doctor.
