DALLAS (May 22, 2007)
MedBasics, a leading operator of retail health clinics providing convenient, affordable and quality non-emergency medical services, announced today that it will expand its clinic operation into retail drug stores under a new affiliation with Pine Bluff, Ark.-based USA Drug.
The agreement calls for MedBasics to open five clinics in USA Drug stores throughout Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee by the end of 2007, with up to 60 total clinic openings projected over the next three years. USA Drug's first in-store clinic will open in Little Rock, Ark., in late summer 2007, with clinics opening in Tulsa, Okla., and Memphis, Tenn., later in the year.
"We are pleased to have MedBasics help us create a one-stop health and wellness destination for our patients," said USA Drug Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Mark McGrew. "MedBasics offers a convenient and affordable way to access medical services, especially when our customers' own doctors' offices are closed, or when a costly trip to the emergency room seems their only option."
MedBasics CEO Brian Jones said the USA Drug agreement marks an important step in the company's expansion plans.
"Having such a strong and recognized partner will help us execute our strategy of expanding MedBasics' presence nationally within the retail healthcare industry," Jones said.
USA Drug President and CEO Joe Courtright commented, "This expanded service will further advance our patient-centric focus and enhance our position as a healthcare provider for our customers."
MedBasics clinics, which are staffed by licensed nurse practitioners and physician's assistants, offer a variety of routine medical services including physical exams, immunizations, flu shots and treatment of common illnesses like allergies, bladder infections, bronchitis, ear and sinus infections and strep throat. Visits normally take 15 minutes, with no appointments needed, and are $49 for most services.
